Alex Taylor in Detail

Alex Taylor is a European journalist that was born in Britain before moving to France in the 1980s. Since this time Alex has contributed towards many French radio and television programmes, as well as hosting talks all over the world.

Despite being born in England, Alex has always looked upon France as his home, especially in recent years.

Early Life of Alex Taylor

After moving to France in the 1980s, Alex was one of the founding members of Frequence Gale, a radio station that was devoted to underground electronic music that also catered to LGBT cultures, and also contributed to France Inter.

As well as his radio work, Alex was supplementing his income as an English reader at several universities throughout France, including the Ecole normale superieure.

In 1990 Alex directed and presented ‘Continentales,’ that was broadcast on several channels and was even reinvented as ‘Eurojournal’ when it was broadcast on La Cinquieme.

The program itself focused on European news reports and saw a spike in popularity during Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, with viewing figures being as high as two million.

Following the broadcast of ‘Continentales’ Alex would spend a year with Ante presenting ‘Confetti’ before becoming director of programs for Radio France International, as well as carrying out a press review for France Inter.

By the end of the 1990s, Alex has formed his own production company called Continental Connection which was renowned for its ‘Europuzzle’ series.

Alex Taylor’s Career During the Noughties

Following ‘Europuzzle’ winning the best cultural program on the net and satellite in France, Alex hosted ‘Living in Europe’ for the Parliamentary Channel.

As well as the European based themes Alex has been involved with, his contributions have also bee notable in the LGBT community. As well as being a founding member of the Frequence Gale radio station, Alex also presents the election of Mr Bear in France and has presented ‘Elevons la debate’ on French television on Pink TV, a station dedicated to the French LGBT community.

Although the debates on the channel proved to be popular the channel would transform from a channel focused on LGBT culture and was relaunched as an adult entertainment company.

Not only did Alex himself come out as gay in the 1980s, but also enjoyed the freedom surrounding the culture that was present in France when compared to other parts of the world, such as the United Kingdom.

As the noughties progressed, Alex would mix his European interests with his love of music, which led him to present the morning section of France Musique alongside Emille Munera before moving on to ‘Travel in me Major’ which was broadcast in the evenings.

‘I Talk’ on Euronews saw Alex conduct interviews with a series of European officials, and Ales would return to France Inter in 2013, before announcing on Twitter in 2015 that he had been fired, although a series of his works is still live on the site, including his last broadcast.

Recently, Alex Taylor notified followers on Twitter that in the light of Brexit, he would become officially French. This can be attributed to the fact that despite being born in Britain, the rules in place meant that he was not able to have a say in which direction the country would take.
